Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Kenfig National Nature Reserve (Glamorgan) is located along the West Glamorgan coast between Port Talbot and Porthcawl. It covers an area of approximately 500 hectares and is one of the last unspoiled sand dune systems in South Wales. Kenfig's mobile dune systems not only provide habitat for some of Britain's rarest plants and animals, but also temporary refuge for thousands of migrating birds. This delicate and important ecosystem is surrounded the British Steel works to the north, the industrial town of Porthcawl to the south, and the M4 motorway to the west.

The site has both a boardwalk suitable for many people with mobility problems but also has a taped nature trail, used by one of our members who has a sight problem and recommended by him.

There are some useful fact sheets to accompany the taped trail.

For further information see this website.
